None of that confirms the name Fitbit Charge 7. Nevertheless, it has understandably fuelled speculation that Google could be preparing a new fitness tracker.

Wareable reported in September that the appearance of new devices in FCC and Singapore IMDA databases has added weight to rumours surrounding a potential Charge 6 successor. However, the publication also stresses that the exact identity of the device remains unknown.

The Mystery Google Fitness Tracker

There’s another reason people are talking about the Fitbit Charge 7 in 2026.

An unidentified slim wearable appeared in Google advertising connected with the Pixel 11 range. The device didn’t look like the existing Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Inspire 3 or Pixel Watch 5, leading to considerable speculation over exactly what Google had accidentally – or intentionally – shown.

Tech Advisor reported on the mystery wearable in August, noting its resemblance to a new Fitbit-style device. More recent regulatory information has subsequently added another piece to the puzzle.

Could that mystery fitness band be the new Fitbit Charge 7?

Possibly.

Could it be an entirely different Fitbit or Google wearable?

Absolutely.

Until Google announces the product, nobody outside the company can say for certain.

What Could the Fitbit Charge 7 Look Like?

If the mystery device seen in Google advertising does turn out to be the Fitbit Charge 7, the next generation of the Charge family could potentially receive a noticeable redesign.

The wearable shown in the advertising appears to have a slim, elongated display – maintaining the compact fitness-band concept rather than moving completely towards the larger smartwatch form factor.

That would make sense for the Charge range. One of the attractions of devices such as the Fitbit Charge 5 and Fitbit Charge 6 has always been their combination of health and fitness tracking with a relatively compact design.

However, the final Fitbit Charge 7 design, screen size, dimensions and strap connector remain unknown.

Will Fitbit Charge 6 Straps Fit the Fitbit Charge 7?

We simply don’t know yet.

Google currently lists its official Charge bands as compatible with both the Fitbit Charge 5 and Fitbit Charge 6, meaning those two generations share band compatibility.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the same straps will fit a future Fitbit Charge 7.

If Google changes the dimensions, attachment mechanism or overall design of its next tracker, the Charge 7 could require an entirely new strap connector.

There is currently no confirmed Fitbit Charge 7 release date.

Some documents relating to the mystery device are reportedly subject to confidentiality until March 2027. That shouldn't be interpreted as confirmation of a March 2027 launch, however. As Gadgets & Wearables notes, the device could appear before those confidential materials become public.

Should You Wait for the Fitbit Charge 7?

That depends on what you need from your fitness tracker.

The Fitbit Charge 6 remains a current product on Google’s UK store, alongside newer Google wearable hardware. Google has also continued to provide software improvements to the Charge 6 during its lifetime.

If you already own a Charge 6 and simply want to give it a new look, there’s no need to wait for a new tracker before changing your strap.

If you specifically want Google's next compact fitness tracker, however, the recent reports certainly give Fitbit fans something to watch.
